The chassis is constructed from square tubing. The tubing can be either steel or aluminum. We have found that we can purchase steel with pre drilled holes for about the same price as aluminum with out holes. Either way it makes for a great building module but is not cheap. The advantage is that the same tubing can be used over and over and this helps take the sting out of the initial cost.
