LIBRARY HOURS

1.The library is open during the following hours: (for all regular school days)

M, Tu, Th, Fri 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
Wed 8:00 am - 1:55 pm

(Closed the first 10 minutes of lunch)

Homework Habitat is open M, Tu, Th 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

2. Teachers may sign their classes up for the main room or the biography/literature room with the librarian for research or book selection.

3.Individual students and up to three students from any one class may come to the library without a teacher during a class period. There is a maximum space for 38 stuents without teachers. The students should check in at the circulation desk and have their library pass stamped when they arrive and again when they leave. A teacher sending in a group of six students should check with the librarian first to make certain space is available. They must have an aide with them.

4. Students are encouraged to visit the library on their own time (no pass needed) before school, during brunch, during lunch, and after school.

BORROWING MATERIALS

1. All library books must be properly checked out before leaving the library. To renew a book, just stop by the Circulation Desk.

2. Most library books may be checked out for two weeks. Students can borrow up to six books at one time.

3. Reference books, the latest encyclopedias books being used for research projects are overnight books and may be checked out for overnight use only. These books must be checked out after school and returned before 1st period the following morning.

4. Older encyclopedias may be checked out for one week.

5. Non current magazines and pamphlets may be checked out for the regular circulation period.

OVERDUE AND LOST BOOKS

1. When a book is not returned on time, a notice is sent to the student.

2. A late fee of ten cents a day is charged for late books. This fine increases by ten cents a day to a maximum of $3.00. This charge is to be paid when the book is returned.

3. Four weeks after a book is due, the book is considered to be lost and a bill will be sent home. Parents will be contacted if the bill is not paid.

4. A fine of $1.00 an hour will be charged for an overnight book that is late, beginning the morning it is due. There is a maximum of $5.00. These books must be in the library for classes to use for research.

5. Continuous and repeated failure to return books may result in denial of library privileges and keep students from attending dances and other non-academic events.

COMPUTER USE

The library has new technology including computers scanners and copiers. They are meant for research and homework assignments only.

1. School computer user contract applies to library computers.

2. No games or game sites, no e-mail, no downloading.

3. No programming or changing the preset controls.

4. Computer are to be checked out at the front desk for use.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

1. The library is a place for reading and studying. Please remember to enter the library quietly and to speak softly.

2. When leaving the library, please return all materials to their proper places and arrange the chairs in place.

3. The library materials are for the use of all students. Please show consideration for others by using materials carefully and returning them promptly.

4. Food and beverages may be left at the circulation desk until the student is finished using the library.
