Physical Education Grading
I. Criteria: The Physical Education grade is based on an evaluation of the student in the following four areas:
A. Student Responsibilities: Students are expected to be on time to class and to be properly dressed in their Physical Education uniform. The grade for this area will be determined using the following standard:
Per Quarter:
A = 1 Tardy and/or 1 Non-suit loaner
B = 2 Tardies and/or 2 Non-suit loaners
C = 3 Tardies and/or 3 Non-suit loaners
D = 4 Tardies and/or 4 Non-suit loaners
F = 5 Tardies and/or 5 Non-suit loaners
B. Social Skills and Participation: Students are expected to contribute to a positive classroom environment and to participate to the best of their abilities.
C. Fitness and Physical Skills: Students are expected to develop their fitness level and their physical skills through both in class and out of class activities. They will be evaluated on their results.
D. Written Tests: Students are expected to demonstrate their knowledge of course content on written tests.
II. Grade Computation:
A. Quarter Grade: A students quarter grade will be computed by averaging their grades in the four areas described above. Each area is given equal weight.
B. Semester Grade: A students semester grade will be computed by averaging the two quarter grades. Each quarter is given equal weight.
C. Definition of Grades:
A Excellent
B Above Average
C Average
D Below Average
F Failing
