I. Class Expectations:

¯      Be on time and properly dressed to participate.

¯      Be quiet and listen when teacher or classmates are speaking.

¯      Golden Rule: Treat classmates, as you want to be treated.

¯      Use appropriate language.  No putdowns.

¯      Do your best in each activity

¯      SMILE AND HAVE FUN!!

 

II. GRADING POLICY:

 

PERSONAL/SOCIAL

A student will demonstrate appropriate behavior and meet class expectations.  They will play energetically with self-control and fair play.  They will show respect for others' safety and positive experience.

 

FITNESS

A student will perform all stretches and exercises correctly and in a safe manner.  The student will be evaluated on their aerobic endurance.  Students are expected to maintain their fitness with at least 30-60 minutes of exercise 3 to 5 times per week outside of class.

 

PHYSICAL SKILL

A student will perform a skill using all the cues taught in class.  

 

WRITTEN TEST/ASSIGNMENTS

Students will be given assignments that will be due on the assigned date.  Students will also be given a written test that covers the course content.

 

III. Grade Computation:

 

A student's quarter grade will be computed by averaging their grades in the four areas described above.

 

Required Materials:

¯      blue/white t-shirt and dark blue shorts with JLS logo and your name labeled

¯      athletic shoes and socks

 

Medical excuses:

A written excuse from a parent or guardian is needed for less than 5 days.  The student will be expected to suit-up.  If possible, modifications will be made to allow the student to participate in an activity. A written doctor's excuse is required for more than 5 days (Education Code, Section 101260).  All excuse notes will be given to the Physical Education instructor and will be placed on file.
