I began teaching in 1985 at an elementary school in Fremont, CA, coming to Palo Alto Unified in 1990.  My first year in Palo Alto was spent teaching 6th grade at Duveneck Elementary School.  

In 1991 the 6th grade was moved to the middle school level throughout the district.  That same year I joined the teaching staff at J.L.S., then the only existing middle school in PAUSD, and it has remained my home.

I love teaching middle school, as the students are experiencing one of the most exciting and rapidly changing periods in their lives.  The middle school structure  enables teachers to teach from their subject area strengths and curricular interests.
