Class Expectations-
We expect all students to follow these rules:
1. Be prepared. Always bring a pencil or pen to class.
2. Be on time. All students must be in assigned seats and on task when the bell rings. Failure to do so will result in a tardy.
3. Safety First! If it's not safe, don't do it.
4. No gum, candy or beverages allowed in the classroom.
5. No hats may be worn in the classroom at any time.
6. All JLS school rules apply. Refer to your student handbook.
Behavior Consequences-
1. Verbal warning, only one.
2. Suspension of lab privileges.
3. Brunch or after school detention are assigned for each tardy. Three (3) tardies will result in suspension of lab privileges.
4. Student letter to parent/guardian, copy to counselor, with referral, explaining their behavior, teacher action taken, and a personal plan so there are no further problems. This letter must be returned, signed by parent the following day.
5. Inappropriate items brought to class will be confiscated and returned only to a parent or guardian.
Homework-
Adequate time will be given in class to complete all assignments. There is no homework unless you fail to use class time wisely or need to make up for an absence.
There will be an at home project for each unit which can include:
-cooking experiences
-meal planning and preparation
-comparison shopping
Grading Policy-
Grades are determined on a point basis. Daily assignments are given and points are assigned for all work turned in. Failure to complete and return any assignment will result in a loss of points. Points are also given for class participation, behavior, labs, vocabulary quizzes and at home assignments.
All assignments missed due to an absence will be put in your folder. It is your responsibility to make up and turn into the teacher all work.
Students may earn extra credit by cooking at home. Prepare any recipe with 3 or more ingredients, complete the home lab form and return to the teacher.
